ABOUT ButterCMS

We started ButterCMS with an ambitious mission: to create a headless content management system that was as smooth as butter for developers and marketers to use. Now that we’ve done it, as the #1 rated headless CMS, we’re not stopping anytime soon. We’re setting our sights on higher impact and rapid growth. That’s where you come in.

THE ROLE

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for driving the marketing strategy, operational planning and execution for ButterCMS. This role will manage the company’s brand and visual brand design system (including corporate identity and website), own Self-Service signups for our offering (including website visits, sign-up conversion funnel, digital onboarding and engagement), build demand for our solutions (including owning a marketing-generated pipeline target), design and execute product marketing strategies and tools (including personas, use cases and Ideal Client Profile, sales enablement tools, ABM campaigns, event marketing and proposal templates), drive our content marketing strategy (including blog, customer stories, webinars, podcasts, videos and SEO initiatives), manage internal and external communications (including PR, social, speaking engagements and awards) and oversee our research and insights efforts to inform and influence our strategic growth planning.

The Director of Marketing will own and manage our marketing ops function and technology stack (including our CRM, sales automation and marketing automation platforms), and our first and third-party data management solutions used to segment the marketplace and execute targeted campaigns.

This individual will collaborate closely with the sales, customer success and operations teams to define and execute messaging and go-to-market strategies that demonstrate the value of our software and drives pipeline and revenue conversion.

The role will report to Kristen Lumetta, VP of Growth and will work remotely. Some travel is required. The position will supervise the marketing staff and develop a team as the company grows.

This will include overseeing the visual design systems and creative output that establishes our brand experience, and leveraging all the channels at our disposal to build brand awareness (and ultimately pipeline). Manage the creative service team to execute design for all external assets, including website, advertising, social media, content marketing and solution marketing needs.
  • Self-Service. Drive traffic to our website, manage the sign-up conversion funnel (including fielding experiments, optimizing the UX and implementing optimizing pricing), deliver a world-class digital onboarding experience (in partnership with customer success) and drive product-led growth upsell motions through in-app and email engagement.
  • Demand Generation. Build demand and pipeline for our CMS solutions through product marketing, content marketing and brand building. This will include owning a targeted marketing-generated pipeline and marketing-generated revenue number, building and managing a marketing measurement framework and reporting weekly on marketing ROI and value generation (including pipeline generated, pipeline converted, number of MQLs, etc.)
  • Product Marketing. Drive innovative solution marketing strategies that establish our marketplace brand position and help achieve our marketing-generated pipeline and revenue goals. This will include defining a data-driven, research-based solution messaging framework, establishing our core personas, use cases and Ideal Client Profile (ICP), driving sales enablement tools and capabilities to aid the sales team in closing revenue, driving targeted ABM campaigns (including content, advertising, website landing pages, coordinate telephonic and email outreach) and field events that generate pipeline and overseeing our new business proposal development process.

This will include overseeing our content marketing team of writers and digital content producers to execute a targeted and relevant content publishing calendar of blog posts, research-based ebooks, customer stories and profiles, webinars, podcasts and videos that align with our keyword and SEO initiatives (to drive organic traffic).
